Poppy seed oil was the most popular cooking oil in Germany until the early 20th century. That’s not surprising because it is an exquisite gourmet oil with a pleasant mild taste that brings out the taste of your dish.
That’s why we decided to start cultivating poppies again where its bright colours used to be seen for centuries, i.e. in the Bliesgau area. Our top priority is to create growing conditions that are as close to nature as possible.
Poppy seed oil is particularly suitable for cold dishes, especially all kinds of salad. Used in carrot or leaf salads, it helps with the absorption of vitamin A.
It can also be used to preserve fresh herbs together with sheep or goats cheese.
